MICHAEL ELKIN Special to The Jewish News T here is a thin line between the unusual and the inex- plicable, and Errol Morris walks that tightrope with a filmmaker's finesse. The movie man, who once helped bring an unjustly accused killer to the attention of authorities through his award-winning documentary The Thin Blue Line, has lined up a reel cast of characters for his latest, somewhat eerie effort. Fast, Cheap & Out of Control focuses on four characters whose career choices won't be found in of both a Guggenheim Fellowship and a MacArthur Fellowship. The fellowship he feels for his sub- jects comes through on the screen. "The success of my interviews with the subjects owes a lot to that need to communicate with people," says Morris.
