JNEntertainment
On Big Beaver in Troy since
March, 1990, is Larco's owned by a
second Pete Larco son, Mark Larco.
A LOT OF HAPPY folks have
found out where Rose Guttman, for-
mer owner of the one-time popular
Irving's Delicatessen-Restaurant, is
hanging her hat these days.
She's at Bagel Deli, Maple and
Farmington Road, with Rose putting
out those homemade traditional Jew-
ish favorites of hers ... Matzah ball
soup, pickled trout, kugels, knishes,
stuffed cabbage, vegetarian chopped
liver, etc., for carry-out and eating on
the premises.
Folks lucky enough to get one of
the 12 chairs at four tables, or one of
the four chairs at a standup counter,
pick up favorites from the display
cases to bring back to their table or
the counter.
A lot of goodies are being carried
out by former Irving's customers and
those who have heard where Rose's
delicious cuisine of yesteryears can
now be gotten.
DINNER PROMOTION by Big
Rock Chop & Brew House on Eton
Street in Birmingham is quite a value
... One pound of that good, oven-
roasted prime rib, a pound baked
potato and one pound (16 ounces) of
a choice from brewmaster Dean Jones'
hand-crafted beers ... Price of $19.98
is Monday and Tuesday evenings from
4 p.m. during January and February.
DETROIT AREA trumpet legend
Marcus Belgrave will be at Oakland
Grill, Woodward and 14 Mile, Thurs-
days, Jan. 15 and 29 ... He'll be
accompanied by string bass and guitar
... On Thursdays, Jan. 8 and 22, tal-
ented saxophonist Charlie Gabriel will
take Marcus' jazz spot.
AT ONE TIME he was among our
town's top laugh-getters.
Today, Mary Welch is celebrating
his 50th year in show business and
still going strong.
Jack's Waterfront Restaurant on Jef-
ferson in St. Clair Shores is having a
tribute to the living legend on Mon-
day, Jan. 12, 8 p.m., with complimen-
tary buffet and 9 p.m. showtime by
Mary and comic Leo DeFour, plus Al
Whyte at the piano.
It's $25 per person, with reserva-
tions by calling (810) 445-8080.
Those who remember back can
recall Mary as Wixie for 10 years on
WXYZ Channel 7's kiddy type show
.. or as the funny gent at Elmwood
C
. asino and Metropole in Windsor,
Gay Haven, Harry & Alma's, Gino's
Surf Lounge, etc. ❑
