Baby, You Can Drive Their- Cars

The 1998 North American International Auto Show opens to the public
tomorrow and continues through Jan. 19. Over the past decade, 411 new-con-
cept and production vehicles have been introduced at the show. This year, the
Volkswagen Beetle Bug and the Lexus RX 300 sport-utility vehicle will make
their worldwide debuts among the 700 cars and trucks displayed by more than
40 manufacturers. Hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. through Jan. 18 and 10 a.m.-7

Classical Concert At The JCC

Glick's Hebraic Suite as well as selections from Mendelssohn and Beethoven
will be performed by a quartet of musicians from the Detroit Symphony
Orchestra — Marcy Chanteaux, assistant principal cellist; Theodore Oien, prin-
cipal clarinetist; Robert Williams, bassoonist; and Michelle Cooker, pianist. The
group comes to the JCC's Jimmy Prentis Morris Building. Tickets at $10 for

Picture! Picture!

A photographic celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of Israel
has been scheduled by the Janice Charach Epstein Museum/Gallery. Marlin
Levin's color photos were taken half a century ago to capture images of Israelis
struggling to survive while creating a Jewish state. The exhibit, which runs
through Jan. 29, starts off with a cake and punch reception on Sunday. Gallery
hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sundays, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays-Wednesdays and 11
