Congregation B'nai Moshe will
honor the memory of Rabbi
Abraham Joshua Heschel this month
with a special adult Jewish study ses-
sion to be offered at three different
times during the yahrtzeit week.
Rabbi Heschel, regarded by many as
\_ a modern-day prophet for social jus-
was a leading peace activist dur-
ing the Vietnam War. He taught for
many years at the Jewish Theological
Seminary and wrote books on spiri-
tual subjects.
To commemorate Rabbi Heschel's
yahrtzeit, B'nai Moshe will host a
brown bag lunch and learn, noon
Thursday, Jan. 15, led by Rabbi
Elliot Pachter at the synagogue.
Students are invited to bring their
own pareve lunch to eat at noon.
The study session will begin at 12:30
p.m. The program will be repeated
that night at 8 p.m., with Rabbi
Aaron Bergman as guest facilitator,
and again 10 a.m. on Sunday, Jan.
18, with Rabbi Pachter.
Each session will include excerpts
torn a videotaped NBC interview
with Rabbi Heschel, plus a discussion
of his writings and his impact on
modern Judaism. There is no charge
for any of the sessions.
Advance registration is encouraged
