Alec Justin (Avraham Yakov), born Dec.
18. Proud great-grandmother is Bertha •
Winitsky of Malmo, Sweden; grandpar-
ents are Thelma and Arnold Feuerman
of Bloomfield Hills and Boca Raton,
Fla., and Helene and Marvin Cherrin of
West Bloomfield. Alec is named in
memory of his maternal great-grandfa-
ther Abraham Feuerman and his pater-
nal great-uncle Abraham Cherrin.

Julia Tapper
Julia Meryl Tapper will become bat
mitzvah at Havdalah services on
Saturday, Jan. 10,
at Temple Israel.
She is the daugh-
ter of Patricia
and Steven
Tapper, sister of
Shayna Rose and
Alexander and
grandchild of
Rita Schechter.
She also is the
granddaughter of the late Dr. Jack
Schechter, Regina Goldhirsch and
Morris Tapper.
As part of her mitzvah projects,
she worked with seniors at the
Fleischman Residence. An honor
student at Hillel, Julia has varied
interests. She loves to dance, is inter-
ested in medicine and science and
hopes to one day attend Harvard
Medical School.

Jay Krefinan
Jay Brian Krefman became a bar
mitzvah on Saturday, Jan. 3, at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek in East
Lansing. He is the son of Naomi and
Mark Krefman,
and younger
brother of Tamra
and Michael.
Proud grandpar-
ents are Blanche
Engel, Marvin
Engel and Irene
and George
Krefman.
Jay is a sev-
enth-grade honor roll student. His
interests include football, baseball,
building Lego models, and playing
ping pong and chess.
Jay is a member of Junior GLTY,
the Greater Lansing Temple Youth
Group, and he plans to visit Israel
this summer with his Grandma
Blanche. Jay's community service
project is helping take care of the
sanctuary and grounds and assisting
