Two Missions
Are Slated

The boards of United Jewish
Foundation and Jewish Federation of 11114
Metropolitan Detroit have approved
funding to subsidize a mission to
Czechoslovakia and Israel that will bring
together emerging leaders of local
Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and
Humanist congregations.
The mission, "Future Leaders of
Klal Yisrael," is intended for those
who understand the importance of
multi-stream cooperation and is an
outgrowth of a leadership training
program initiated three years ago by
the Synagogue/Federation Task Force.
Each congregation identifies future
leaders who study and problem-solve
together.
The "Future Leaders of Klal Yisrael"
mission, which is scheduled for fall
1998, will begin with a trip to
Czechoslovakia and then continue to
Israel. Rabbis representing all three
streams are helping develop the trip and
will travel with the group.
A second leadership training mission
— this one for members of the Young
Adult Division board — has been
approved for funding by the UP and
Federation. The mission, scheduled for
next July, is the culmination of a year of -
study and is designed to energize the
board and make them a more effective
working unit.
The United Jewish Foundation pro-
vided a partial subsidy to enable the
young leaders to participate in the two
missions.
