Obituaries DR. SAM ALPINER, 84, of Bloomfield Hills, died Jan. 3. Dr. Alpiner had a general practice for over 50 years. He graduated from Wayne State University Medical School in 1938, was on staff at North Detroit General Hospital and was a former chief of staff at St. Frances Hospital. Dr. Alpiner was a major in the Army Air Force Medical Corps during World War II. He was a member of the American and Michigan State Medical Societies and the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians. He was affiliated with Congregation Shaarey Zedek. His love of music led him to play the violin in the Doctors Orchestra in Detroit. He is survived by his wife.
