The Agency for Jewish Education's
Educational Resource Center (ERC)
has new evening hours: 6-8 p.m. on
the second Thursday of every month.
During these hours, Jewish educators
can visit the ERC for general use or to
participate in a variety of programs
designed to introduce teachers to new
resources and ideas to use in their
classrooms.
January's program will include a
coffee bar and video review with Fran
Menken, director of the Resource
Center, Thursday, Jan. 8. After the
video, Ms. Menken will lead a discus-
sion on how to use the video educa-
tionally in the classroom.
The Educational Resource Center
programs are free of charge. Pre-regis-
tration is required. For information or

Genghis Cohn, a tale of vengeance
from beyond the grave.

will show the 17-

garnered first prize in documentaries
this year at the Israel Film Festival.
On the following Sunday, Dr.
Greenberg will present The Dunera
Boys. This film portrays refugees'
attempt to retain their humanity on a
ship built to accommodate only
1,600.
On Feb. 1, Rabbi Azriel Fellner,
author, poet and movie producer, will
illustrate through the use of video
footage how television undermines
religious and ethnic identity in a pro-\
gram titled "Flirting With Disaster."
The films will be shown at the syn-
agogue, 29901 Middlebelt Road in
Farmington Hills. All three evenings
will be followed by coffee. They are
open to the community at no charge.

Dr. Warshay
Gives Talk

The Sholem Aleichem Institute will
present Dr. Leon Warshay at its 8
p.m. Friday, Jan. 16 Oneg Shabbat, at
the Franklin Pointe clubhouse, 26361
Franklin Pointe Dr., Southfield.
Dr. Warshay is a professor of soci-
ology at Wayne State University and
serves on the board of American and
Jewish Friends. His topic will be
"Religion and Politics in Israel." The
public is welcome.

Jewish History
Crash Course

Adat Shalom Synagogue will offer a
crash course on Jewish history on
nine Wednesday evenings this winter
with Rabbi Daniel Nevins.
Classes will begin at 8 p.m. on Jan.
14, 21, 28; Feb. 4, 11, 25; Mar. 4,
18, 25.
