A Southfield man lights up his neighborhood
with a massive menorah.

around the house.
Outside of it, too.
Not content with
making scary dummies and elaborately
carved pumpkins for the family's
annual backyard Halloween party,
Finn erected a lawn menorah out of
PVC pipe.
"I wired it up, I got lights on it for
the candles, and I got it painted
chrome so it looks like a silver meno-
rah," explained Finn, who works in
sales for an automotive engineering
company.
The menorah, which stands almost
7 feet and boasts a 5-foot span, is
planted in the front yard of the Finns'
Southfield home in the Cranbrook
subdivision near 13 Mile and
Greenfield roads. Finn's wife, Risa,
said joggers and motorists routinely
stop to admire it.
Finn, she said, built the menorah as

a tribute to Chanukah, the Festival of
Lights, and as a response of sorts to
the tinsel and lights that drape trees
and houses this time of year.
"He's talking about building a drei-
del of some sort soon," she said. El

Bereavement

Support Group

Congregation B'nai Moshe will offer
an eight-week bereavement support
group 7:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesdays,
beginning Jan. 7 through Feb. 25, at
the synagogue. The group will be con-
ducted by Robert Hack, a psychother-
apist specializing in bereavement
issues.
The bereavement group is offered
free of charge to any member of the
Jewish community. Call the congrega-
tion office, (248) 788-0600, to register
or for information, call Mr. Hack at
his office, (248) 334-9000.
