Rabbi Talks
To Treasures
Rabbi Paul Yedwab will be the featured
speaker at the pre-Chanukah luncheon
meeting of the Temple Israel Treasures,
neon on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the
temple. He will talk about his recent
trip to Poland and Israel with local
teen-agers.

BAHM School
Chanukah Party
Congregation Beth AHM and its reli-
gious school will host a Chanukah party
6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at the syna-
gogue.
Candlelighting ceremony will start
with Kitah Dalet, followed by Kitot
Alef, Bet and Gimel singing "Maoz
Tsur," accompanied by Sam Barnett
and Orchestra. Kitot Hey, Vav and
Judaica students will perform
Chanukah favorites with their own
band, led by Sam Barnett.
Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
The program will continue with the
synagogue youth choir led by Cantor
Ben-Zion Lanxner; Kitah Zayin will
perform Israeli dances and Judaica stu-
dents will tell Chanukah jokes. A spe-
cial appearance of Geri the Clown is set
for 7-8 p.m.

Kitah Gimel
BAHM Shabbat
The Congregation Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses religious school will conduct its
Kitah Gimel Shabbat Saturday, Dec.
13. The students will participate in the
Musaf service. Rabbi Aaron Bergman
and Cantor Ben-Zion Lanxner will
bless the students and their parents with
a priestly benediction after which the
parents will recite the traditional prayer
of "Shehecheyanu." The students will
be honored and receive a Torah.

Eisenberg, Scott Gorman, Elyssa Juni,
Keri Kahn, Max Lesnick, Max Merzin,
Stephanie Oppenheim, Aaron Poris,
Samantha Roby, Scott Schwartz, Hayley

Tzedakah Event
For Youngsters
Fifth-graders in Detroit-area congrega-
tional and day schools will participate
in the "Tzedakah Experience," 9:40-
11:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, at Temple
Beth El.
The Tzedakah Experience is a hare-,
on event that teaches students about the
services and programs of Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit-
supported agencies and other local
agencies that serve the Jewish commu-
nity About 500 children and their par-
ents are expected to attend.
In advance of the event, the schools
will teach a specially-prepared "Helping
Hands" curriculum created by the
c,
Agency for Jewish Education. The stu-
dents also will participate in the Penny
Harvest, collecting and recycling pen-
nies and other coins from families,
friends and neighbors to be dropped off
at the Tzedakah Experience and allocat-
ed by the students to the agencies.

Temple Beth El, Jewish Federation
Women's Campaign and Education
Department, Agency for Jewish
Education and its School Services and
Jewish Experiences for Families pro-
grams, Jewish Educators Council and
The Jewish News.
Penny donations may be dropped off
at religious schools or at Temple Beth El
on the day of the event, or given to
fifth-grade students who attend congre,
gational and day schools.

Adviser Meeting
The Michigan Region B'nai B'rith
Youth Organization Adviser Group will
hold its meeting 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec,'
14, at the Maple/Drake JCC. There are
openings for adult volunteers to become
advisers to an AZA or BBG chapter.
