fter two teen-agers and a 5-
year-old, James Snyder
started thinking a vasecto-
my would be a good idea.
But he really didn't get serious about
the relatively simple outpatient surgery
until his wife's gynecologist challenged
him.
"She called me a sissy," the 44-year-
old mechanic said. After all, his wife
Cheryl was scheduled to have her
tubes tied, a procedure considered
major surgery.
Even then, he was a little squeamish
about lying prone before a needle and
scalpel on a table.
A few guys at work told him he
would get pretty sore afterward, too.
He could expect the area to be packed
in gauze and ice for a while.
But one co-worker told him about a
new procedure he had undergone
called NSV, or no-scalpel vasectomy.
