Locomobile road racer will be on dis-
play for the first time.
The first American car to win a
major international race, it was
designed for speed and power. Auto
races started as a way for car makers
to show their vehicles, and in the
early years, Europeans won.

Zubin Mehta,

Old 16

"We've fallen in love with this
funny old car, and I think that visi-
tors to the museum will do the
same," said Marx, who worked with
Emmy Award-winning writer Char
De Wolf. "Hopefully our film will
help them see how truly remarkable
Old 16 is."
The film incorporates archival and
newly shot footage and documents
the car's rise to international status
among racing circles, highlighting its
win in the 1908 Vanderbilt Cup
Race, an event that changed the way
the world looked at American auto-
mobiles.
Marx, who won an Academy
Award in 1988 for her film Young at
Heart, has produced more than 100
films, videos and television spots.
Writer-producer Char De Wolf,
who has teamed with Marx on a
number of projects, received two
Emmys for A Community of Chimps,
one of eight films in the Detroit Zoo
Film Series.
Old 16 is a key symbol of emerg-
ing American industrial power at the
beginning of the 20th century. By
acquiring Old 16, the museum also
builds its race car collection.

Henry Ford Museum & Green-
field Village is located at Oak-
wood Blvd. and Village Road in
