chopped onions, egg, sour cream and
toast points, oysters on the half-shell
or baked Atlantic salmon, foie gras
and pate, seafood melange sampler of
favorite seafood (crabs, shrimp, mus-
sels and smoked scallops), etc.
Also an assortment priced for two,
four or more persons that includes a
choice of four different items ...
from a selection of ribs, Cajun beef
tips, pan seared oysters, calamari,
grilled portabello, shrimp Martini,
steamed mussels, spinach and arti-
choke dip or onion rings.
And a martini list, cordial list,
cognac list, wine list and cigar list.
Big favorites, and well they should
be, are the tableside preparations of
salads, steak Diane, steak Tartare,
shrimp Saigon, crepes Suzette,
bananas Foster, cherries jubilee,
Caesar salad, etc
As you enter the second-floor Got
Rocks Room, a six-foot wooden
Indian greets you at the door and
Lewis Weidemann takes over as one
of the finest maitre d's anywhere.
The restaurant is open seven days
... Monday through Saturday, 11 to 2
a.m.; Sundays, 3 to 10 ... Got Rocks
is closed on Sundays.
Big Rock Chop & Brew was worth
the wait .. even though seven months
is a long time in coming.
It's quite obvious that Norm and
Bonnie wanted to open this type of
restaurant right ... After all, there
really was no precedent around here
for them to follow in this different
type of operation.
Since there would be little oppor-
tunity for a second chance, it was
extremely important to be right the
first time ... This Big Rock Chop &
Brew House is.
NAME REMAINS the same, but
new owners now at Joe Muer's Grill
on Southfield and 13 Mile.
Chick Taylor, at Joe Muer's
Seafood downtown 17 years and Joe's
former partner at the Southfield spot,
and Geoffrey Browning, 20 years
with Joe Muer's who hired Chick 17
years ago, are now the owners ...
Geoffrey bought Joe's interest.
Seafood a la Joe Muer's will still be
featured ... New chef is Louie
Finnan, noted for his New Orleans
cuisine.
BEING TOLD by a usually very
reliable source that Matt Prentice's
new Milk & Honey kosher restaurant
would open at the Memphis Smoke
location on Orchard Lake Road has
