He is the son of Dobi and Gary Shapiro, brother of Torre and liana, grandson of Esther and Harry Shapiro, Richard Gittelman and the late Shirley Gittelman, great- grandson of Louise Gittelman. He has done many hours of mitzvah projects, including working as an aide at Sunday school and charity work at Children's Hospital. Jacob attends Bloomfield Hills Middle School where he is an honor student. He enjoys golfing, skiing and tennis. Hannah Lewis Hannah Mara Lewis of Oak Park will celebrate her bat mitzvah Thursday, Nov. 27, at a morning service at Congregation Beth Shalom. Hannah is a seventh-grade student at Hillel Day School, where she was on the cross- country team. She is a member of Habonim-Dror and enjoys attending Camp Tavor in the summer. Hannah is the daughter of Dr. Joseph and Barbara Lewis and the granddaughter of Harold Naidoff of Houston, Texas, and Theo Lewis of Bournemouth, England. Her siblings are Miriam and Aaron Lewis. Marisa Kowaisky Marisa Burk Kowalsky will celebrate her bat mitzvah on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Adat Shalom Synagogue. Marisa is the daughter of Ilene Burk and Steven Kowalsky, the sister of Daniel, the granddaughter of Rema and Robert Burk and Edith and Larry Kowalsky, and the great-granddaugh- ter of Molly Stein. Marisa is an honor student at Hillel Day School. She enjoys dance, piano and act- ing. She also played on the girls' tennis team. In honor of her bat mitzvah, Marisa toured Israel and read Torah on Masada. She volunteered at Yad Ezra and made a tzedakah contri- bution to JARC. Rachel Charlupski Rachel Nicole Charlupski of Orchard Lake will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah at Congregation Shaarey Zedek on Saturday, Nov. 22. Rachel is the daughter of Elyn and Larry Charlupski. Participating in the service will be Rachel's grandpar- ents Franka and Allen Charlupski and Renee and Morris Rochlin, as well as Rachel's brothers Cory and Jordan. Rachel is a student at Hillel Day School. Her interests include track, rollerblading, dance, music and ski- ing.
