FOURKIDDUSH
HERE'S HOW:
1. Give everyone a cup of wine so that everyone may partake of the wine after
the Kiddush is chanted. Some families all drink from the cup of the person
who recited the Kiddush. The cup over which the person chants Kiddush,
usually a cup specified for Kiddush, is silver or ceramic. 2. Raise the cup.
3. Chant the blessing:

It is customary to follow the blessing of family
members with Kiddush (sanctification). This is
said over a brimming cup of wine (or grape juice
to allow the whole family to participate). Wine

*Before reciting the blessing over the challah, some
traditional families wash their hands using a spe-
cial two-handled cup. Some people pour water
once over each hand and some three times over
each hand (with the same cup of water), then recite
the blessing.

Baruch ata Adonai Eloheinu Melech HaOlam hamotzee lechem min ha'aretz.
Blessed are You, Lord our G-d, Ruler of the Universe, who brings forth bread from
the earth.
Traditionally, on Shabbat we bless two challot (braided bread). This is
because when the Jews were wanderers in the desert after their exodus from
Egypt, G-d sent bread from heaven, called manna, every morning. On Friday
they would gather two portions of manna because manna did not fall on
Shabbat.
