"The young dancers
of Tnuatron Dance
Theater are a dedicated
and accomplished group
of primary, junior-high
and high-school stu-
dents," said Sylvia
Kaufman of Muskegon,
Fest chairperson.
"Their creative
involvement in the work
process is accentuated by
their work habits, which
include investing four or
'tore hours daily in their
craft, and their special
sense of group responsi-
bility.
"Their performances
are very colorful, ener-
getic, charming and
imaginative, and because
they're models of youth-
ful celebration, their per-
ibrmance is ideal for the
entire family.
"Tnuatron's visit will
be an opportunity for
many members of our
community to learn
more about the culture
of the Middle East with-
out ever leaving the
Midwest. It also will give
•e young dancers a
unique opportunity to
learn more about us in
America's heartland and
bring their experiences
back to Israel."
On Friday, Nov. 14,
Tnuatron leads a work-
shop in collaboration
with the Mosaic Youth Theater of
Detroit and the Jewish Community
Center of Ann Arbor, exploring the
painting-in-motion process used in

Beyond the Rainbow.
In addition to their Ann Arbor
show, which is sponsored by the
University Musical Society and begins
7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the
Michigan Theater, troupe members
I conduct in-school workshops on
Israeli folk song and dance at the
Hebrew Day School and at the five
Ann Arbor Public Intermediate
Schools.
As part of these workshops, 25 stu-
dents at Clague Intermediate School
will have the opportunity to partici-

pate in an American/
Israeli folk dance
exchange. The Clague
students will appear with
Tnuatron during the
finale of the Nov. 15 per-
formance. .
When the troupe per-
forms at 4 p.m. Sunday,
Nov. 16, at the State
Theater in Detroit, the
Karmanos Cancer
Institute will benefit.
Proceeds go to the
Hazards of Tobacco
(H.O.T.) program, which
uses smoking-related can-
cer survivors to deliver
anti-tobacco messages.
As part of Tnuatron's
Detroit visit, dancers will
visit schools on Nov. 17,
when there will be shared
ethnic presentations,
instruction and a recep-
tion at Northern High
School.
The next day, between
9:30 and 11 a.m., there
will be a workshop for
Detroit Dance and fine
arts students at the State
Theatre. On Nov. 19,
suburban partner schools
will be invited to perfor-
mances for Detroit stu-
dents.
"My troupe loves to
dance with other teach-
ers," said Shimron, who
builds her ensemble by
watching for the most
diligent students and
training them in classical
ballet, modern dance,
acrobatics and martial
arts.
The Tnuatron dancers
also are touring Illinois and Indiana. 0
