Joel Silverman
Joel Aaron Silverman celebrated his
bar mitzvah on Saturday, Nov. 8,
at Temple Kol Ami. He is the son of
Sandy and Barry
Silverman and
brother of David
and Daniel. Joel is
the grandson of
Lynne Silverman
and Nate Deutch
and the late
Isadore Silverman and the late
Esther Deutch.
Joel attends Berkshire Middle
School, where he plays saxophone
in the band. His interests include
computers, drawing, camp and lis-
tening to comedy tapes.
For his mitzvah project, Joel
helped collect books for the Kol
Ami Children's Book Drive and
delivered them to a school in
Pontiac. He also supervised a
group of pre-kindergarten children
at Safety Town.

Rebecca York
Rebecca York of Farmington Hills
will be bat mitzvah on Saturday,
Nov. 15, at the Birmingham
Temple. Participating in the ceremo-
ny will be her parents, David and
Judy York. Grandparents Helen and
Louis Fealk of Farmington Hills will
attend.

Lori Robinson
Lori Beth Robinson will celebrate her
bat mitzvah at Temple Israel at
Havdalah services on Saturday,
Nov. 15. She is the daughter of
Judith and Mark Robinson, sister of
Lisa and grandchild of Belle
Englander. She also is the grand-
daughter of the late Julius Englander
and the late Sybil and Irving
Robinson.

Labor Day picnic
was one of her
mitzvah projects.

School and enjoys rollerblading,
swimming, sports and collecting
frogs.

Brian Brodsky
Brian Lee Brodsky of West
Bloomfield will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah at

Congregation Shaarey Zedek on
Saturday, Nov. 15. Services will be
led by Rabbi Weiss, Cantor
Najman and Cantor Rube.
Participating in the service will be
Brian's parents, Stacy and Jeffrey
Brodsky, and his sisters Tamara and
st,
Danielle. His grandparents Dina
and Herman Brodsky and Joan and
Jack Friedman, as well as his aunts
and uncles, also
will take part in
the service.
Brian is an
honor student at
Hillel Day
School. He is on
Hillel's tennis and
cross country
teams. Brian also enjoys basketball,
skiing, golf and swimming.
For his mitzvah project, Brian vol-
unteered as an aid in a class for

physically and emotionally chal-
lenged children at the Jewish
Community Center. He also made a
donation to the Jewish Community
Center toward programming for
these children in honor of each of
the guests attending his bar mitz-
vah.
