Left: Jamie Rashty 2 1/2,
made this wonderful flag, say-
ing "Babies are important to
me. This is a baby." (Mom's
note: Jamie lust had a new
brother, Jacob.)
Thanks to lovely Sari Saperstein o
West Bloomfield, who called to
tell us all about her favorite movie.
Sari, 9, loves Grease, she said,
because "It's funny, exciting, has
nice music and it's really a lot of
fun to act out."
Thanks, too, to the Lempert fami-
ly of Walled Lake, and the Rashty
family of West Bloomfield, whose
children designed blank flags illus-
trating what's important in their
lives.
Right: Jordyn Leaver!, 6, drew this
great flag. Jordyn says,
"I love rriy Mommy and my Daddy
and my dog and my sister. 11
Here Come The Cozies
0
If you've been waiting for the
return of those wild and wacky
Cozies, be assured that they
are about to make their
appearance again.
Look for the latest Gozie
books for sale ($3.95 each)
at the Jewish Book Fair.
These new editions will
address divorce, death and
loss from the Jewish per-
spective, with sections for
both parents and children.
Included will be essays
by David Techner of Ira
Kaufman Chapel, Judge
Edward Sosnick, Alissa
Pianin of the Institute for
Single Jewish Mothers
and Fathers, and Rabbi Aaron
Bergman of Congregation Beth
Abraham Hillel Moses.
For the children (and, okay, the
adults, too) there will be plenty of
games featuring everybody's
favorite space-alien family, the
Cozies.
In these new books, which
received a grant from the Jewish
Federation, the Cozies also offer
their "top five," said coordinator
Janis Roszler. These include the Five
Stupidest Ways To Live with
Divorce, the Five Coolest Ways
to Live with Divorce, the Five
Coolest Ways To Take Care of
Sadness, and the Five Stupidest
Ways To take Care of Sadness.

Want
Your
Latkes!
Intense family discussions have
been known to focus on the proper
way to serve a latke: with sour.
cream or sugar.
Condiments aside, we're interest-
ed in what goes into the making of
the latke itself!
We're looking for some terrific,
different latke recipes for an upcom-
ing issue of The AppleTree. Do you
have one? If so, please send it our
way. We'll run all the recipes in the
Dec. 19 paper, along with your
photo if you like (please send a self-
addressed, stamped envelope if
you want your picture returned).
Additionally, we'll ask AppleTree
cooking columnist Annabel Cohen
to try out the recipes and select a
winner. First prize will be awarded
for the most tasty and creative latke.
The winner will be pictured on the
cover of the Dec. 19 issue of
AppleTree, and will receive a copy
of Traditional Jewish Cooking by
Betty S. Goldberg.
Please send your latke recipe to
AppleTree Latke Recipe, 27676
Franklin Road, Southfield, MI
48034, no later than 9 a.m.,
Friday Nov. 28. The winner only
will be notified by telephone.
Please be sure to include your
name, address, age and phone
number with your recipe.
This contest is open
to anyone age
2 to
200.
