r

or the fourth year, the Yad
Ezra kosher food bank in
Oak Park is participating in
the Empire Kosher Poultry
Pound for Pound program.
The program calls for people to
send in the weight labels from their
Empire Thanksgiving turkey. The
total weight of all turkeys sold is
matched by Empire and donated to
food banks.
"Two years ago, we got 5,000
pounds of Empire products for distri-
bution to our clients," said Lea
0 Luger, Yad Ezra's development direc-
tor. "We distribute almost 1,000
chickens each month, so we are for-
tunate to be a part of this."

Luger attributes Yad Ezra's partici-
pation to Leslie Kleiman of Morris
Kosher Poultry, and a board member
of the food bank.
"I suggested to Empire that
Detroit would greatly benefit by
being part of the program," said
Kleiman, whose poultry company is
the master distributor in Detroit for
Empire products. "They were very
accommodating, and they needed a
good match to do this with. I point-
ed out that they are a kosher compa-
ny, and Yad Ezra is a kosher food
bank."

Labels can be sent to Pound for
