James Rosenthal

James Michael Rosenthal will be
called to the Torah as a bar mitz-
vah on Saturday,
Nov. 8, at
Temple Israel. He
is the son of
Cathy and Bruce
Rosenthal, brother
of Craig and
grandchild of
Sallie Rosenthal and Elsie Sandler.
He also is the grandson of the late
Sanford Rosenthal and the late
Benjamin and Cecily Sandler.
He assisted at the American
Cancer Foundation and babysat
at Temple Israel during the High
Holy Days as part of his mitzvah
projects. James is a student at
Warner Middle School and enjoys
skating, basketball, skateboarding
and football.

Eric Burgher

Eric Scott Burgher will celebrate
his bar mitzvah at Havdalah ser-
vices at Temple Israel on Saturday,
Nov. 8. He is the son of Donna
and Robert
Burgher, brother
of Laura and
Michelle. Proud
grandparents are
Florence and Phil
Burgher and
Natalie and
Arnie Krause and
great-grandmother is Estelle
Blanks.
Donating to Yad Ezra was Eric's
most meaningful mitzvah project.
A student at Abbott Middle
School, where he is involved in
the advanced choir and advanced
performing arts, he is interested in
sports, particularly basketball and
football, watching comedy movies

and writing screenplays and song
parodies.

Alissa Melvin
Alissa Melvin will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Saturday, Nov. 8, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue. She
is the daughter
of Robin and
Ivan Melvin, sis-
ter of Jason and
grandchild of
Phyllis and
Seymour
Marshak and the late Dorothy and
Max Melvin.
Alissa completed the require-
ments of the 13 mitzvot program
at Adat Shalom. An honor student
at Dunckel Middle School, Alissa
enjoys swimming, volleyball and
softball.

Brett Meilin
Brett Mellin of West Bloomfield
will be bar mitzvah on Friday,
Nov. 7 ; at
Temple Israel.
Rabbi Yedwab
and Cantor
Orbach will lead
services.
Participating in
the ceremony will
be Brett's parents, Jay and Paula
and his sister Alyse. Grandparents
are Helen and Seymour Grundy of
West Bloomfield and Harriette
Mellin of Southfield.
A party will be held at Tam
O'Shanter Country Club.
Brett is an honor student at
Orchard Lake Middle School and
attends Hebrew school at Temple
Israel. He is active in sports and
enjoys music.
