Temple Israel Sisterhood will host a
luncheon and financial program on
"Woman to Woman: Don't Wait for
an Emergency to Get Your Financial
House in Order," noon Monday,
Nov. 17, at the Temple.
Keynote speakers will be Goldie
Trembley and Susan Merrick, who
will offer insight into making sound
financial decisions. The cost of the
program is $6 for sisterhood members
and $8 for guests. Babysitting is avail-
able by reservation for $5 per child.

OTZMA
Seeks Recruits

The Michigan/Israel Connection of
the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit is looking for college seniors,
graduate students and recent college
graduates to participate in Project
OTZMA, a leadership development
and volunteer service program in
Israel. The program includes 10
months of service in Israel followed
by a commitment to serve in the local
Jewish community.
In Israel, participants serve three
months on a kibbutz and engage in
intensive Hebrew studies; perform 10
weeks of community services in
* Federation-sponsored Project Renewal
or Partnership 2000 neighborhoods
or regions; and spend three weeks on
an electives track which may include
working on a kibbutz or moshav,
studying Jewish text in Jerusalem,
interning in a high-tech company or
living on an Israeli army base.
Participants also are required to

work two months with young immi-
grants and disadvantaged Israeli
youth at Youth Aliyah villages or in
absorption centers with Ethiopian,
Russian and other immigrant fami-
lies. Each student is paired with an
Israeli family during the course of the
program.
Application deadline for the 1998-
1999 program year is Friday, March
6, 1998. The OTZMA committee
will interview prospective candidates
in early March, and a mandatory ori-
entation weekend will take place at
Camp Ruth, behind the Maple/Drake
Jewish Community Center, Friday,
April 2, through Sunday, April 5.

Visits Campuses

Machon L'Torah, the Jewish Network
of Michigan, will hold a lecture 6:30
p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9 at the Jewish
Resource Center in Ann Arbor. Rabbi
Avraham Jacobovitz will lead a discus-
sion on "Who is a Jew? Myths and
Realities about Jewish Identity."
There is no charge. Refreshments will
