Lachover of West
Bloomfield, who correctly identified
our Mystery Nlensch, violinist Isaac
Stern.
We gave her these clues:
#1) This person is still alive.
#2) He was born in the former
Soviet Union, but came to the
United States when he was 1.
#3) He was a child prodigy.
#4) He has made frequent
appearances with the Israel

hat do you think makes
a great day? Sunshine?
A walk with your
favorite pet? Eating ice cream on
the front porch?
We're inviting children aged 2 15
to send in pictures that show their
idea of a beautiful day. They may
use markers, crayons, stickers or any
other material to produce original art
work. We will select one to appear
on the Nov. 28 cover of The
AppleTree, and we will print as
many drawings as space permits.

Send art to Beautiful Day, c/o

Rachel, 11, said she figured out
the identity of our Mystery Mensch
"by looking through the encyclope
dia and looking in some of my
Dad's boxes of Jewish stuff."
Rachel, the daughter of Cookie
and Lenny Lachover ("Also I have a
dog named Snoozers"), attends
Hillel Day School. "There I learn a
lot of Hebrew, so I know most
things that relate to Judaism," she
said. "My hobbies are going on
the computer, watching TV, going
outside, making funny faces, draw-
ing, skiing, swimming, ice skating,
water skiing, sailing, canoeing and
kayaking."

Please include with your draw-
ing a photograph of the artist,
along with a brief biography.
Illustrations must be at our
office no later than 9 a.m.,
Friday Nov. 14. If you would like
your drawing returned, please
include a self-addressed,
stamped envelope.
