Private Investors
Buy Two Companies

Jerusalem (JPFS) —The Knesset
Finance Committee approved a
request by the Government
Companies Authority in Israel to sell
Afridar and the Weed Control Co. to
private investors, the Prime Minister's
Office said.
The valuations of the companies
will be announced after Government
Companies Authority Director-
General Tzipi Livini selects buyer from
among the bidders.
Afridar is an Ashkelon-based prop-
erty developer that employs 36 work-
ers. The Weed Control Co. has 65
employees.
Employees will receive dividends
following the sale.
The buyers will be obliged by con-
traceto comply with current labor
agreements.
Meanwhile, the first stage of the
options plan was being prepared for
the privatization of Bank Leumi and
Israel Discount Bank. The government
also intends to issue shares for major
companies, including El Al, Israel
Chemicals and defense industries on
the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.

Jerusalem (JPFS) — Magic
Enterprises of Israel won a contract to
become the standard development
platform for Ciba Grimsby, part of the
Ciba Geigy Group.
Ciba will use Magic to develop
business applications over several
years, along with some minor applica-
tions and the re-engineering of exist-
ing systems.
Ciba Grimsby, of England, is a sub-
sidiary of Ciba Geigy, a world-wide
biological and chemical group which
manufactures medicines, crop protec-
tion, plastics and adhesives.
