Heart Fitness
Is Addressed

The Men's Club of Adat Shalom will
host a program on heart problems 10-
11:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at the syn-
agogue. Dr. Barry Lewis of the
Botsford Hospital Department of
Cardiology will provide practical
pointers for cardiac fitness.
Refreshments will be served. There
is no charge. Reservations are not
required.

Stars Of David
Plans Panel

The Stars of David, an international
support, social, and educational group
for Jewish adoptive families, partly
Jewish adoptive families and prospec-
tive adoptive Jewish families, will hold
a panel presentation of adult adoptees
titled "The Adoptee's Experience,
Growing up in a Jewish Family," 6:30-
9:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at
Temple Israel.
The panel will be moderated by
Linda Yellin, an adult adoptee, thera-
pist and consultant specializing in
adoption and infertility issues.
Included in the panel will be Mike
Huckman, adult adoptee and reporter
on Channel 7 News, WXYZ.
There is a charge of $5 per person.

Rosh Chodesh
Study. Series

Eilu Eilu, the joint adult Jewish
learning project sponsored by
Congregations Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses, Beth Shalom, and B'nai
Moshe, Hillel Day School, and the
Women's League for Conservative
Judaism-Michigan Branch, will spon-
sor a Rosh Chodesh adult Jewish
Study Series for the new year, with
monthly Sunday night sessions hosted
by Borders Books & Music, 30995
Orchard Lake Road, Farmington
Hills. The series is keyed to the Jewish
calendar, with each session welcoming
a new month.
The. first session will be held 7 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 2. Community educator
Ruth Bergman will lead the shiur
(study session).

The next session will be held on
Sunday night, Dec. 7. Aviva Silverman
will discuss "The Chanukah Songs We
Sing: What Do They Really Mean?"
The series is free and open to all
interested adult learners. Advance reg-
istration is not required, and no
knowledge of Hebrew is necessary.

Bereavement
Support Group

Congregation B'nai Moshe will offer
an eight-week Bereavement Support
Group, 7:30-9:30 p.m. on
Wednesdays, Oct. 29-Dec. 17. The
group will be conducted by Robert
Hack, a psychotherapist specializing
in bereavement issues. The bereave-
ment group is offered free of charge
to any members of the Jewish com-
munity.

Open House

A community open house celebrating
90 years of caring for Jewish frail
elderly by the Jewish Home and
Aging Services will be held 4-7 p.m.,
Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Fleischman
Residence/Blumberg Plaza.
Robert Naftaly, president, Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit;
Dan Guyer, president, Jewish Home
and Aging Services; Marvin
Fleischman, vice president,
Development Foundation and past
president of the Jewish Home for
Aged; and Sandi Kilde, executive
director/CEO of Michigan
Association of Homes and Services
for the Aging, will be the guest
speakers.
A buffet supper will be served
throughout the afternoon.
