BETTY AWERBUCK, 99, formerly
of Windsor of Toronto, died Oct. 11.
She is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Sidney and Cele of
Southfield, Dr. Barney and Charlotte
of Toronto; six grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren.

HELEN BASKIN, 91, of Southfield,
died Oct. 19. Mrs. Baskin was a char-
ter member of Temple Beth El.
She is survived by her daughters
and sons-in-law, Iris and Clifford
Feldman of Bloomfield Hills; Sandra
and Kenneth Kauffman; grandchil-
dren, Beth-Anne and Robert Lipin,
Jill and Steven Stone, Kyle Kauffman,
Jon Kauffman, Mary Beth and Stuart
Mittleman, Tom and Cathy
Kauffman; great-grandchildren, Hallie
Lipin, Jon and Kyle Stone, Beau and

Levine. She was the beloved wife of

JOHN E. BERGER former Detroiter
of Las Vegas, died Oct. 10. Mr. Berger
was a former retail meat operator.
He is survived by his wife of 51
years, Lillian; sons and daughter-in-
law, Stewart and Donna Berger of
Farmington Hills, Allan Berger of
Indianapolis, Ind.; grandchildren,
Rebecca, Jason, Jeffrey and Haley
Berger; brothers, Herbert of
Farmington Hills and Joe of Austin,
Texas.

RHODA L. BLONDY, 87, of West
Bloomfield, died Oct. 17. Mrs.
Blondy was a member of Hadassah,
Sinai Hospital Guild and the
American Jewish Congress.
She is survived by her sons and

Merrill Saidman of West Bloomfield,
Dr..Lawrence J. and Arlene of
Alameda, Calif, Richard Blondy;
daughter and son-in-law, Susan and
Richard Rogel of Avon, Colo.; grand-

in-law, Ruth Rubin. She was the
beloved wife of the late Allen H.

LIBBY BREYER, 84, of West
Bloomfield, died Oct. 14.
Mrs. Breyer is survived by her son
and daughter-in-law, Allan and Linda
Breyer of West Bloomfield; grand-
children, Laura and Jeffrey Victor,
Sheri Breyer, Mark and Alexis Breyer;
three great-grandsons; sister, Mary
Katz of West Bloomfield. She was the
beloved wife of the late Louis Breyer
and the dear sister of the late Harry
Katz.

DR. IRWIN K. CARSON, 52, for-
mer Detroiter of Highland Park, Ill.,
died Oct. 7. He was a 1962 graduate
of Mumford High School. He then
graduated summa cum laude from
Harvard University. He was an accom-
plished pianist and while at Harvard
was twice selected to write and direct
productions of the Hasty Pudding
Review.
Dr. Carson was the president of
the Harvard Club of Chicago. He
graduated with honors from the
University of Michigan Medical
School. He was one of a group of
doctors who developed and implant-
ed the first artificial shoulder. His
medical group was granted the first
Food and Drug Administration
license to use a newly developed
cement in their procedure:
He suffered from cancer and helped
to establish that a drug, formerly used
only for ovarian cancer, could benefit
patients with his rare form of lym-
phoma.
Dr. Carson worked as a staff mem-
ber of Children's Memorial Hospital,
Hoffman Estates Medical Center and
Northwest Surgicare in Arlington
Heights, Ill.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy;
daughter, Julie; sons, Jonathan and
Joshua; parents, George and Claire;
sister, Mrs. Sheila (Larry) Trepeck_of
Bloomfield Hills and Mrs. Merle
(Charles) Wolfson of West Bloomfield.
Services were held in Northfield,

HARRIS "BUD" CRANE, 72, of
West Bloomfield, died Oct. 21. Mr.

Crane was the chief officer and presi- 0.1
dent of Arrow Office Supply in
Detroit. He was a member of Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
Mr. Crane is survived by his com-
panion, Dorothy Herzoff; sons and
daughters-in-law, Sandy and Karen
Crane of Farmington Hills, Michael
and Stacey Crane of West Bloomfield,
Daniel Crane of Farmington Hills;
daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and 44

was the beloved husband of the late

EVA GOLDMAN DEBOSKY, for-
mer Detroiter of Sun City, Ariz., died
Oct. 11. Eva worked until retirement
in the late 1970s as a teletype opera-
tor with the National Bank of
