that when I started in the business,"
said Moon, who is now a vice presi-
dent of the Friedman Real Estate
Group. "You don't want to make it
too easy for them, because if they're
not persistent enough to beat down
the door, then they are not going to
work for you."
Said Friedman, "They hired me —
with the assumption that I'd be there
for a couple of years, and I would
leave. It ended up that I was there
four years, and I outstayed a lot of
other people.
"But I got frustrated because I
wanted to do more, and I ended up
opening my own company in 1987 as
a one-man office."

Today, he has 65 employees. There=
are satellite offices in Ann Arbor and
Saginaw, in addition to the company's
Farmington Hills headquarters on
Northwestern Highway.
There are now 25 brokers, distrib-
uted among office, industrial, high-
tech, investment and retail sales. And
Friedman is in the process of hiring
six more brokers for the expanding
retail division. The company's broker-
age business has grown consistently at
an annual rate of 30 to 40 percent.
The company also specializes in build=
to-suit and tenant representation
through property and asset manage-
ment services.
"On a day-to-day basis," said
Friedman, I do a ton of things. A ton.
I used to transact 200 office leasing
deals a year as an office broker and r
around like a maniac all the time,
which is what the majority of my bro-
kers do every day.
"Over the past five years I've
changed a lot, where I don't have the
time to do that as much. So my bro-
kers do it.
"Today I'm working at a much dif-
ferent business for the company that=:
used to. I'm out there meeting with
institutions, obtaining new manage-
ment accounts, getting new business,
