Cheder Days

A day full of life at the Cheder.

PHIL JACOBS Editor

r

or Shmuel Rosenstein and his Lubavitch Cheder
classmates in Oak Park, each day brings plenty to
look forward to. He starts the school day learning
the Torah portion of the week and praying under
the leadership of Rabbi Bentzion Stein.
Shmuel, 10, works on Talmud with his rebbe (teacher),
Rabbi Dov Berkowitz. Like boys his age all over the planet,
there's also time to have a friendly exchange with a class-
mate, throw the football around and burn off some energy
on the playground.
For Shmuel, though, his memories won't be about the
"touchdown" he scored on the blacktop. Instead, it will the
words from the Torah, the teachings from his rebbes and the
friendships he's made along the way.
Shmuel is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Reuven Rosenstein of
Oak Park. ❑
