Robert Kelter
Robert Kelter will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, Oct.
18, at Temple
Beth El. Robert is
the son of Patti
Barnett Kelter and
Marc Cohen and
Theodore Richard
Kelter III and Patti
Kelter. He is the
big brother of Alexandra (Lexi)
Kelter and Raquel Cohen. He is
the grandson of Tody and the late
Alvin Barnett and Theodore R.
Keifer Jr. and the late Gloria
Kelter.
Robert is a student at Derby
Middle School in Birmingham.
He is an avid hockey player and
golfer. He assisted at the
Capuchin Soup Kitchen, provided
many hours to the American
Friends of the Hebrew University
and provided much needed sup-
port to the victims of the recent tor-
nado in Highland Park and
Hamtramck.

Brent Shapiro
Brent Scott Shapiro will be called
to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, Oct. 18, at. Temple
Israel. Brent is the son of Sally
and Dennis Shapiro, brother of
Allison, and grandchild of Dorothy
and Dr. Morris Medalie and the
late Mae and Benjamin Shapiro.
Assisting at the
Fleischman
Residence and in
the Temple Israel
office were part
of his mitzvah
projects. Brent
attends Orchard
Lake Middle
School and his hobbies include
basketball, hockey and music.

Jared Robbins
Jared Robbins will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, Oct. 18, at Temple

Emanu-El. Rabbi Joseph Klein and
Cantor Norman Rose will lead ser-
vices. Participating in services will
be Jared's parents Myral and
Gerald Robbins, and his older
brother Lane.
Jared is an eighth-grade honor
student at Norup Middle School
where he plays clarinet in the
school band. His interests include
acting, movie-
making, skate-
boarding and ski-
ing. Jared has
studied classical
piano for seven
years; he also
enjoys -listening to
punk rock music.
For his mitzvah project, Jared has
participated in two Junior Emanu-El
Teen Society Mitzvah Day activi-
ties, volunteered at Yad Ezra and
spent many hours operating the
video camera, recording temple
services.

Justin Schwalb
Justin Schwalb of West Bloomfield
will be bar mitz-
vah at
Congregation
Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses on
Saturday, Oct.
18. Rabbi
Bergman and
Cantor Lanxner
will lead services Participating in
the ceremony will be Justin's par-
ents, Debbie and Steven, and his
brother Lowell. Grandparents
Harry and Claire Mendelson of
West Bloomfield and Roland and
Ilene Schwalb of Florida will
attend. Justin also is the grandson
of the late Margaret Mendelson.
A party will be held at the
DoubleTree Suites in Novi.
Justin is a student at Walled Lake
Middle School and attends
Hebrew school at Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses. He is active in
baseball, golf and football.

Lauren Glass
Lauren Shona Glass of Farmington
Hills will celebrate
her bat mitzvah at
Temple Beth El on
Friday, Oct. 17.
Lauren is the
daughter of Allen
and Shelley
Glass, sister of
Justin and grand-
child of Ida Glass and the late Louis
Glass.
Lauren is an honor student at
Warner Middle School and plays
clarinet in the eighth-grade band.
She also enjoys playing the piano,
skiing and competitive swimming.
She plans to volunteer at Yad Ezra
Food Bank for her mitzvah project.

Holly Haffner
Holly Beth Haffner will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah at
Shabbat services on Friday, Oct.
17, at Temple
Israel.
Holly is the
daughter of Sherry
and Steven
Haffner, sister of
Arielle, and
grandchild of
Marilyn and
Herbert Haffner and the late Esther
and Maurice Becker.
She is an eighth-grade student at
West Hills Middle School. She
enjoys art and tennis. Her mitzvah
projects included making dolls at
Hadassah House for sick children,
babysitting at Temple Israel and
working in the temple kitchen for sis-
terhood.

Rachel Inwald
Rachel Irene Inwald will be called
to the Torah as a
bat mitzvah on
Saturday, Oct.
18, at
Congregation
Shaarey Zedek.
