REKINDLING
SHABBAT

IGNITE YOUR JEWISH SOUL

Beginning October 24th and 25th, the entire Detroit Jewish community will be
aglow. With inner light. Outer light. Candle light. Warm, wonderful Jewish light. It will be
the first community-wide Rekindling Shabbat celebration. Following this, Rekindling
Shabbat will take place on the last Shabbat of each month, connecting the Jews of Detroit,
from every denomination, in a celebratory and meaningful Shabbat observance.

Rekindling Shabbat will be a time for friend and family-based Shabbat dinners

and congregation-based Shabbat services. Some congregations may be hosting their own
Rekindling Shabbat dinners, while some people will be opening their homes to those who

are new to the celebration. Rekindling Shabbat will be a time for all of us to reach out to
those members of our community for whom the ritual of Shabbat is a new experience.

On the right is a listing of some participating synagogues and their events for this
first-time celebration. You are the center of this flame. Without your participation the
light won't be as bright.
