DEAR FRIENDS

Recently I was contacted by Pola Friedman at the Orchards Children's
Services. This is an organization that takes in children who have been
removed from abusive or neglec tf ul homes. She told me that sometimes these
children would leave their homes with nothing to take with them
but the shirt on their back. I felt compelled to do something.
It seemed so unfair to me that these children, who have
already faced such harshness and disappointment in their
young lives, should have to face a cold, harsh winter without
even having a warm coat.

Children's Services

For our Annual Fall Coat Drive, Tapper's has set an ambitious goal of
collecting one thousand coats by the end of October. I hope you will help us
meet this goal. There is a special need for coats fitting chil-
dren ages 7 to 10, but any coat will be greatly appreciated.
All adult donations will be given to The Pontiac Lighthouse
Clothes Closet.

Without the very basics of food, warmth and shelter, its
hard for those in need to hope or imagine that the world
holds any promise for them. If we all work together, we can
help provide at least one basic...a warm coat this winter.
