Production Rises In June July Jerusalem (JPFS) — Industrial pro- duction, excluding diamonds, increased by 8 percent in annual terms in June and July, the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics announced. The increase in industrial growth has been continuing at this pace since April, after only a percent growth rate in the first quarter. "The economic forecast for the State of Israel is promising," Finance Minister Yaakov Neeman said, addressing the annual International Monetary Fund gathering in Hong Kong. "We will continue to pave the way towards a future of stability, sustain- able economic growth, adhere to the target of reducing the budget deficit, reducing the rate of inflation, and prosperity," he added. While speaking in an upbeat fash- ion about the economy, Neeman did admit to the current economic slow- down, the balance of payments deficit and the budget deficit. "It is not easy to implement a restrictive policy during a time of slower economic growth," said Neeman. "The fear of further slow- down, combined with rising unem- ployment, increases the pressure to abandon restrictive fiscal policy. However, we are aware that there are times when we must exercise policy restraint in the short term in order to benefit the long term." M itsubishi Exec. He and two senior Mitsubishi offi- cials from Europe and one from its local branch met with representatives of Surtech (which deals with surfaces treated by lasers to prevent wear) and SVIS (for computer communications coding). They went on to two start- up firms which began as incubators, Tadin in Migdal Ha'emek and Nanomotion in Yokne'am.
