Making A Move
Nancy Gad-Half leaves Temple Israel to be Technion's
regional director.

fter eight and a half years as
program and development
director at Temple Israel,
Nancy Gad-Harf has
accepted a position as regional direc-
\±-)r for the American Technion
(Society's East Central Region.
The organization is hoping to
make Technion-Israel Institute of
Technology a household word with a
>lbt of help from Gad-Hart. She will
be responsible for leadership develop-
ment and fund-raising for chapters in
Detroit, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
The Detroit chapter plans to use
,Gad Harf's "success in her former
/positions" to expand its reach, says
James Deutchman, Detroit chapter
president.
"The expansion of anything comes
fiu'rri the understanding of the pur-
pose of the institution and what the
society stands for ... I think that, in
essence, Israel's future is really quite
)osely tied to technology, and the
future of high technology in Israel is
'found at the Technion."
Technion garners more fiscal sup-
port from Americans than any other
Israeli university, having raised a total
/-or'$606 million since its inception in
1940 (more than half in the last six
years). This year, Detroiter William
Davidson, CEO of Guardian
i ndustries, pledged $30 million to
fechnion to establish a management
school.
From the Farmington Hills office,
Gad-Harf will supervise a secretary
\ and a development person in
/rittsburgh. She replaces Allen Juris,
who left the position in June for work
in the financial sector in Chicago.
"Technion is particularly exciting
— the state of Israel's foremost sci-
>ntific and technological research cen-
ter," Gad-Harf says. As such, she says
the university is a "major element in
the future of Israel and therefore in
\t}1 future survival of the Jewish peo-
