Technically its first live album (The Song Remains the Same is considered a film soundtrack), BBC Sessions includes performances from four radio concerts Led Zeppelin taped in Britain — three during 1969 and 1971. The good news is that the two-CD set is more repre- sentative of the band's exciting perfor- mances than The Song Remains the Same. But ardent fans, who may have heard bootleg recordings of these shows, will be disappointed to find that the concerts have been edited. J Fans of music on late-night TV will be pleased with a pair of upcoming albums that collect performances from David Letterman's "The Late Show" and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." First up is the O'Brien set, Live from 6A: Great Musical Performances from Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Due in stores Tuesday, it features an acoustic performance by David Bowie plus songs by Elvis Costello, Ani DiFranco, Matthew Sweet, Bjork and others. Live on Letterman: Music from the Late Show doesn't come out until Nov. 18 and includes Sheryl Crow, Jewel, R.E.M., Aretha Franklin, Rod Stewart, the Dave Matthews Band, Lou Reed and a duet by Van Morrison and Sinead O'Connor; most of these include back- ing by "Late Show" music director Paul Shaffer and his band, though a duet by Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach on "God Give Me Strength" features a 16- piece string section. J One of Detroit's special music events of the past year is captured on Bosnia, the recording of Grand Funk Railroad's benefit concert held April 20, 1997, at the Palace. The two-CD set includes the entire show, including the orchestrat- ed renditions of "Mean Mistreater," "Bad Time," "I'm Your Captain/Closer to Home" and "Loneliness." Some proceeds from the album sales will go to the Bosnian-American Relief Fund. ❑ CALL BLOOM'S FOR YOUR EREV YOM KIPPUR DINNERS 7:11 1 CAFE CATERING 10 or more persons) I -0( 99 Per Person • 10 Person Minimum • No Substitutions Dairy Gourmet Salad Trays, Gourmet Pasta Trays, Pickled Trout, Pickled Salmon, Gefilte Fish and Chopped Herring Also Available. 855-9463 32418 Northwestern Hwy.
