2 spoons ground cumin seed
2 spoons ground coriander
1/2 packet of Goodman's onion
soup mix
• 1 spoon sugar

Chop all ingredients, except beans.
• Rinse beans and check thoroughly,
looking for pebbles or insects. Discard
any bad beans. Mix ingredients togeth-
er. Cook on high for the first 10-11
hours. Then turn it down before
Shabbat starts. Makes about 15 bowls.

Disorders and Dr. Jennie Zeisz of
Chicago's DePaul University,

'-jconcluding that family meals are
"strongly related to [adolescent]
adjustment" and could play "an
important prevention variable" with
\, teens.

Although the doctors couldn't fin-
ger the precise reason why shared
family meals effect personality devel-
opment, they describe the gatherings
>-_,-;as "an important part of the socializa-
tion process during which children
and adolescents learn to develop nar-
ratives that explain their lives."
