States. But with egg and
sperm mix-ups a daily occur-
rence, Samuel was fearful
that the wrong sperm would
be used.
Dr. Brooks arranged for
Samuel's sperm to be isolat-
ed, thus ensuring that the
sperm to be used for future
IVF treatments were his. He
also helped Samuel and his
wife ship the sperm to Israel
and to have the sperm held
at a respected hospital.
In addition to providing
medical assistance, Zir
Chemed offers a counseling
service for couples all over
the world. Couples can
call the organization's coun-
seling service and receive
medical and Halachic advice
that may be unavailable
where they live. Couples
from Canada, the United
States, Belgium, France,
Great Britain and Gibraltar
have come to Israel, after
consulting with Zir Chemed,
to ensure that their treat-
ment was supervised correct-
ly.
Zir Chemed offers help at
a fraction of the cost of regu-
lar treatments in Israel and
in western countries. In-vitro
fertility treatment costs
approximately $5,000
through Zir Chemed. For
this reason, many couples
travel to Israel to undergo
treatment.

Orchestra
Wins Contract

The Rishon Lezion
Symphony Orchestra has
won a contract to record all
of the popular Russian com-
poser, Tchaikovsky's orches-
tral music — including the
operas and ballets.
Alexander Rahbari, music
director of the Kock
International Discovery
label, recently conducted the
Israeli orchestra and was
impressed that it had the
right melodious sound for
Tchaikovsky. Not surprising,
since more than one-third of
the orchestra's performers are
from the former Soviet
Union.
