more could any girl ask for?
He's best known as Dr. John
Carter on "ER," though Noah Wyle
also has a number of film credits to
his name, including Swing Kids and
the upcoming The Myth of
Fingerprints. In-between all that, he
took time to send a favorite family
recipe, which he received from his
great-grandmother Rose Robinson,
to The AppleTree.
"I'd be remiss, though, if I didn't
mention that while I've attempted
this recipe on numerous occasions,
it has yet to truly taste like hers," he
said. "There may have been a
secret ingredient she took to her
grave."
4 Tbsp..margortne
lb 2 brisket of'beef, cubed
1-3/4 quarters of chicken or beef broth
3 leeks, sliced
onion, chopped

2 carrots, chopped
3 beets parboiled ; peeled and
,:ed
I cup grated cabbage
I Tbsp chopped fennel
2 sprigs parsley or marprom
salt and pepper to taste
Melt margarine in a large pot. Add all vegetables except the
beets and cook gently for a few minutes. Add broth, meat, fennel
and parsley Cook for one hour, then add beets and cook an addi-
tional 15 minutes. Add seasonings.
Note: The flavor improves if soup is made in advance.
