The Cultural Commission of

series 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at the
home of Edwin and Rita Sitron. After
the dinner, Rabbi Stone will speak on
"Responsibility for Death — Abraham
and Isaac on the Mountain." There is

Super Sunday

A new program call the Children's
Circle has been launched to serve spe-
cial needs children and their families.
The program, which will allow parents
to drop off special needs children for
three hours of fun and games, will
debut Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Maple-
Drake Jewish Community Center.
The Friendship Circle has secured
the help of Cathy Clark, an experi-
enced teacher in the area of special
needs, who will supervise the activities
and educational aspects of the pro-
gram.

Stepping Stones to a Jewish Me is
accepting enrollment of children, ages
5-15, of interfaith parents. The pro-
gram, now in its fifth year, provides a
two-year series of tuition-free weekly
sessions intended to enhance the chil-
dren's understanding of their Jewish
heritage and involve the families in the
Jewish community.
Parents participate in parallel learn-
ing at the same time. Classes are held
every Sunday, from 1:30 p.m.-3:30
p.m. at Congregation Beth Shalom in
Oak Park.

meeting of Workmen's Circle/Arbeter
Ring, 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at the
Workmen's Circle Center, 26431

ments the passage of Jews through
Ellis Island as they enter America.

A Workshop
The School Services Department of
the Agency for Jewish Education will
hold its first NIRIM Creativity Night
Workshop for the 1997/98 school
year, 7:30-9 p.m. Thursday Sept. 26,
at AJE. Jewish educators are invited to
participate in this hands-on workshop
presented by Debbie Landau.
During the session, Ms. Landau
will introduce teachers to creative
music, stories and games focused on
Jewish holidays which will enhance
the student's classroom experience.
Those eligible to enroll in NIRIM will
receive two units upon completion of
the workshop.
All NIRIM workshops, excluding
the community-wide conference, are
free of charge. Pre-registration is
