Albert named it Jacoby's in 1904 ...
Now one of the very few German
restaurants around and certainly, at
93, the oldest in Michigan.
Biggest German sellers on the
menu today, for both lunch and din-
ner, are sauerbraten and rindfleisch
rouladen, rolled lean beef brushed
with German mustard, stuffed with
bacon, onions, carrots and celery ...
served on a bed of spatzle.
The sauteed, lightly-breaded Lake
Perch for which Jacoby's is also well-
noted, is still on the menu, to which
Mike has added items like grilled
salmon, chicken Wellington, salmon
Wellington stuffed with shrimp,
mushrooms and celery, wrapped in a
light French puff pastry topped by a
champagne sauce; chicken pot pie,
chargrilled prime rib, homemade vege-
tarian lasagna, etc.
Also six salads, .three soups (New
World chowder with salmon, Jacoby's
onion soup made with Guinness
stout, and a daily selection).
Eight sandwiches include the
acclaimed Jacoby's hamburger char-
grilled with a choice of toppings from
grilled onions, Swiss, havarti or ched-
dar cheese, mushrooms and bacon,
with lettuce and tomato.
