Technology Inc.'s purchase of Boston
Technology could create 1,000 new
jobs in Israel within the next year, sai

of Comverse's Network Systems
Division.
Comverse, a New York-based deve
oper of telecommunications systems,
announced that it acquired one of its
main competitors, Boston Technolog
Inc., for about $858.5 million in
stock.
The company currently employs
1,600 people worldwide, 1,200 of
them in Israel. Following the merger,
the company will grow to 2,600
employees.
