students: the Teen Mission 2 Israel,
June 25-July 30, 1998.
Applications are available for the
few remaining spots. Teen Mission 2
Israel will provide participants with a
summer of physical and intellectual
activities, an up-close look at the peo-
ple and land of Israel and opportuni-
ties to share experiences with their
Israeli peers.
A preparatory course designed to
connect the teens to Israel before
their summer experience will begin
in January 1998. Teens in grades 1('
12 as of fall 1998 are eligible to par-
ticipate. A $100 deposit, fully
refundable until Nov. 1, 1997, guar-
antees a spot on the mission and an
application packet. Subsidized by tl:
Jewish Federation and Detroit com-
munity, the price has been reduced t
$2,995.
The trip is sponsored by the Jewisl
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit
and its Michigan/Israel Connection ii
cooperation with the Agency for
Jewish Education, metropolitan
Detroit congregations, The Jewish
News, the Fresh Air Society, Jewish
Community Center, community
foundations and donors.

The Oak Park Recreation
Department's family trips have been
scheduled during September/
October. The first will to Erwin
Orchards Farm Market on Saturday
and Sunday, Sept. 27-28. The fee is
$3.50 per person and includes rounc.
trip bus transportation, a wagon rid
to the apple orchard where a variety
apples are available for picking. The
bus will leave the community center
10 a.m. and return at 3 p.m.
The second trip is on Saturday,
Oct. 18, to Upland Hills Farm. Th,
bus will leave the community cente
at 9:30 a.m. and return at 3:30 p.
Fee for the trip is $9.50 and includ
a free pumpkin, Hayride to pumpk
patch, pony ride or trip through
the Haunted House and farm
exhibits.
Family trips are designed for
children and their parents. Childrei
must be accompanied by a parent
