Remembering Hudson's

The Detroit Historical Museum presents "Remembering Downtown Hudson's," an exhibition sure

and expanded to become Hudson's Big
Store on Woodward from 1911 until it
closed in 1983. The exhibit will include
sections on the building, which was the
tallest department store ever construct-
ed; the shopping experience, handling in
its heyday over 100,000 shoppers each
day; special events, with Santa, Thanks-
giving Day Parade and Flag Day; and
the dining experience, with seven restau-
rants serving up chicken pot pie and
Maurice salad. Also included is the pho-
tography of Davis Hillmer, who took this
photo of the Children's Barber Shop circa
1920, and a continually running film by
Gary Glaser. Through December 1998.
