S. Caribbean Cruise on NCL Windward
Nov. 1-8

Maccabi Gymnast
Wins Medals

Erin Kaufman, a gymnast for the
Detroit Maccabi Games team in
Milwaukee, won three medals as
the lone local representative for
her sport.
Kaufman won a gold medal in
the vault, a silver medal in the
parallel bars and a bronze in the
all-around.
The Maccabi Games in Mil-
waukee took place Aug. 10-15.

Gymnast Named
All-American

West Bloomfield's Jamie Hertza
won six gold medals and a bronze
in the men's gymnastics 16-19 age
group at the Amateur Athletic
Union (AAU) Junior Olympics in
Charlotte, N.C.
On the opening day of the com-
petition, Hertza won the all-
around title with a 49.90 score.
On the second day, Hertza won
the floor exercise, pommel horse,
rings, parallel bars, and horizon-
tal bar. He finished third in the
vault.
His accomplishments in Char-
lotte won Hertza an AAU All-
American award, which he adds
to his USA Gymnastics Academ-
ic All-American awards.

Morgenthau Wins
Softball Playoff

Morgenthau defeated Brother-
hood I/Capital Mortgage 12-7 to
capture their second straight B'nai
Brith softball championship.
Shortstop Stu Bandalene and
second baseman Jonny Goldberg
both had three hits in three trips
in the final game. Joel Waterstone
had the game winning RBI single.
Both Morgenthau, managed by
Rob Kaplan, and Mike Robbins'
Brotherhood I/Capital Mortgage
defeated Zager Stone and Broth-
erhood II to play in the final game.

Uno Wins
Softball Title

A Farmington Hills Parks and
Recreation Tuesday Night In-
dustrial League team sponsored
by Pizzeria Uno of West Bloom-
field won the league's regular sea-
son and playoff championship for
the third straight year.
The team, which has played to-
gether since 1986, has won 10 ti-
tles in that time.
They finished the season 18-2,
losing one game in the regular sea-
son and their first game in the
winner's bracket of the playoffs.
Pizzeria Uno won the title game
15-14 on the strength of Danny
Sherbin's 330-foot grand slam.
