Lauren Kirsch Allison Brown Allison Brown Allison Star Brown will become a bat mitzvah at Havdalah ser- vices on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Temple Israel. She is the daugh- ter of Sheri and Anthony Brown; sister of Aaron, Justin, Michael and Eric; and grandchild of Faye and Howard Rice and the late Miriam and Samuel Brown. Her mitzvah projects includ- ed assisting her drama teacher with younger children and per- forming her drama portion for children in a shelter. She also helped pack Passover packages for college students, and pre- pared food parcels for Thanks- giving. Allison is a student at the Bloomfield Hills Middle School and is interested in singing, act- ing, dancing, tennis and skiing; as well as forensics, for which she has won several state awards. Lauren Kirsch will become a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Congregation Beth Shalom. Lauren is the daughter of Dr. David and Sandy Kirsch, and the sister of Joel and Brian Kirsch. Her grandparents are Don and Zita Kirsch, Helen Steibel and the late Hart Steibel. Lauren resides in Huntington Woods and attends Norup Mid- dle School. The first scholarship was awarded recently to Susan Cole- man at the 17th anneal School of Business awards and recognition ceremony for her academic achievement. The scholarship will be awarded yearly to a Wayne State University accounting stu- dent who has at least a 3.0 grade point average and a financial need. The Kayes have asked that preference be given to Jewish stu- dents. Students may use the scholarship dollars to pay for tu- ition and/or books. The Kayes are both alumni of Wayne State University. Mildred taught business education at Northern and Central high schools in Detroit; Charles was principal partner in Charles Kaye and Company, CPA, for more than 40 years.
