Let's Go Exploring
Parents and caretakers and their pre-school age children (3-5) are invited to go on an exciting
series of excursions with the Explorer's Club, hosted by the Birmingham Temple.
The club is open to anyone in the community, with outings taking place on Thursday after-
noons. Past trips have included visits to the Matzah Factory and a nature center, going to hear
a children's orchestra, a scavenger hunt at the Detroit Institute of Arts and learning how to
milk a cow at Bower's Farm School.
The temple makes all the arrangements, and entrance fees for children are included in the
price of the program.
The first meeting of the next Explorer's Club will be Sept 4. To register or for more informa-
tion, call program coordinator Ann Ellenbogen, (248) 851-7481.
If you've always wanted your very own
predator nematodes (and really, isn't that
everyone?), then check out the latest cat-
alog from The Bug Store of St. Louis, Mo.
The Bug Store offers a delicious collec-
tion of creatures and tools to help make
outdoor life more pleasant. In addition to
the predator nematodes (they love dining
on grubs, fleas, leaf miners and other
pesky creatures who feast on lawns), you
can order red wiggler worms (one pound
of worms will eat one pound of garbage a
day) and ladybugs (a mere $7 for 1,500),
both of which are certain to delight
your children.
For a catalogue, contact The Bug
Store, 113 W. Argonne, St Louis,
MO 63122, (314) 966-2287, Web/E-
mail VVWVV.bugstore.com .

Calling All
Cooks
If you love to cook and your
son or daughter loves to write
about it, here's just the thing to
make your day.
Uncle Ben's is sponsoring a
"Good Cooks' Cook Off" for
boys and girls aged 12 and under and their parents. In 150 words or
less, children are invited to tell why their mom or dad is a good
cook. Officials will then select eight regional finalists, where the par-
ents' cooking skills will be put to the test. At this part of the contest,
mom or dad will participate in an improvisational cooking contest in
which they are challenged to pull together a delicious family dinner
in 30 minutes or less.
The first prize is $5,000, second place wins $2,000 and third
place will receive $1,000.
All entries must be submitted by Aug. 31 to Uncle Ben's Good
Cooks' Cook Off, POB 11172, Chicago, Ill. 60611. The eight final-
ists will be notified by Sept 12. All entries become property of Un-
cle Ben's Inc. and will not be returned.

2 BIBS
A Dupori non-wove
Baby Tiffany is all dressed up in her oh-so-darling pink
ruffly outfit with the cutesy-wootsy bows all over it
and 0000h doesn't she look so delicious, that sweetsy
weetsy little pudding pie!
You make the long drive to grandma's house and
Tiffy hasn't dribbled or dripped and she's looking just
as cute as a button and then you get in grandma's
house and there is spaghetti for dinner and you have
NO BIB! It's like a scene out of a 1950s horror film as
the noodles fly this way and that and the sauce cov-
ers every inch of Taffy's dress and body.
If only you had had Crumples!
Crumples are a new disposable bib that come two
to a packet. Made of a sturdy material with water-
proof backing, the bibs feature a reusable tape tab and
fit infants and toddlers. They are perfect for travel
(and unexpected meals at grandma's house).
The bibs, for sale at all area Kroger stores, feature
this great extra benefit: Crumples will donate 5 cents
from the sale of each bib to the Leukemia Society of
America.
