gium. After the conference, she
helped found the Detroit Com-
mittee on Soviet Jewry. She also
helped plan the activities to raise
funds to rescue the children from
Chernobyl, and is a past honoree
of the Children of Chernobyl, an
organization which helps rescue
Jewish children. She is president
of the Soviet Jewish Prisoner In-
formation Center.
Nancy Newman Adler has
been involved with American Red
Magen David for Israel, as well
as Yad Ezra, Children of Cher-
nobyl and Hillel Day School. She

Musicale
Summer Concert
Hadassah-sponsored Young Judea inaugurated its Voluntour program this
summer, whereby college students volunteer at a hospital or army base while
touring in Israel. Tracie Trainer and Heather Rosenberg of West Bloomfield
worked in gynecology.
The Melody Musicale ensemble,
under the direction of Louise
Lazarus, will present its annu-
al summer concert 2 p.m. Sun-
day, Aug. 17, at 4836 Faircourt
Dr., West Bloomfield.
Vocal soloists will be Shirley
Frost, Galina Feldman, Ann
Wohl, Rachel Kapen, Sonia Ki-
tain, Irma Pasick, Sandy Isser,
Bat Sheva Morse, Florence
Malach, Suzanne Cohen and
Louise Lazarus. Evelyn Berger
will play violin; the Kitain and
Kozadayev families will sing
and play various instruments.
Guest soloists will be Gene Sol-
bin and Sheridan Holzman.
Concert pianist/accompanist
will be Zelda Keil Miller. Ruth
Handleman, president, will act
as narrator.
Refreshments will be served.
Musical selections will consist
of popular ballads, musical com-
edy, Yiddish and Hebrew
melodies and operatic arias.
