Digging For Clues

A few locals believe they have relatives who left money in Swiss bank accounts.
Now comes the hard part.

left behind funds in a Swiss

Holocaust.
Gail Novetsky suspects that
two uncles in her family may
have stowed money in Swiss ac-
counts before they tried emigrat-
ing to the United States.
But she isn't sure without hav-
ing a complete list in front of her.
The dormant bank accounts list
was. released July 22 by major
Swiss banks.
Novetsky, of Oak Park, said
relatives in New York told her
there was a chance that somebody
left behind in Europe was on the
list, like David Novetsky, her fa-
ther-in-law's brother, and Harry
Weltman, her father's brother.
Both were turned back from the
United States because of mental
retardation. She said there were
others in her family, like her
grandmother's parents, who
might have also had accounts.
