e Temple Beth El confirma-
tion class of 1937 recently held
a 60-year reunion, which in-
cluded a Shabbat dinner and
Shabbat services. The services
were held at Temple Beth El.
Man Nathan of Bloomfield Hills
organized the event. "It all start-
ed when I bumped into Harvey
Firestone, and he told me his
class had a reunion," said Mr.
Nathan.
After looking thrbugh several,
local phone books, Mr. Nathan lo-
cated 20 names. The 1937 confir-
mation class consisted of 81 men
and women. Mr. Nathan eventu-
ally found out that 15 were de-
ceased; 23 live out of town; 14
could not be located (many were
women with married names); and
29 lived in the metro area.
At a June morning service,
Rabbi Daniel Syme called each
of the confirmands up to the
bimah, and Cantor Dubov
blessed each one.
Mr. Nathan put together a class
reunion booklet with a copy of the
original confirmation certificate.
"It was wonderful to 'come home'
to Temple Beth El and the friend-
ships of 60 years," said Mr.
Nathan.
