Berkley High School, was award-
ed a $1,000 per year renewable
scholarship by William Beau-
mont Hospital. Joshua will at-
tend the University of Michigan
this fall.
IRIS J. NICKEL, administra-
tor of Prentis Federation Apart-
ments in Oak Park, was one of
24 participants in the 12th an-
nual Sherman Seminar for Out-
standing Young Professionals at
Brandeis University in Waltham,
Mass.
SIDNEY SILVERMAN, a for-
mer national president of the
Zionist Organization of Ameri-
ca, has been named a member
of the national ZOA delegation
to the World Zionist Congress in
Jerusalem, headed by Morton A.
Klein, national ZOA president.

ERIC FELDMAN, of Farm-
ington Hills and a student at
North Farmington High School,
is one of 50 students from across
the United States participating
in the Next Generation Leader-
ship Program (NGL) at the
George Washington University
in Washington, D.C. Admission
to the program is based on aca-
demic success and leadership po-
tential.

The Yiddish film The Jazz
Singer will be shown 7 p.m. Sun-
day, Aug. 3, at the Jewish Com-
munity Center in West
Bloomfield. This program is free
and open to the public.
The film also will be shown
12:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at
the Jewish Community Center
in Oak Park.
Rabbi Stephen Weil from
Young Israel of Greenfield will
present a program on his recent
trip to Poland 1 p.m. Thursday,
Aug. 7. Rabbi Weil accompanied
youth groups from Detroit on the
"March of the Living" in May
1997. This program is free and
open to the public.
Vivian Stollman, accompa-
nied by Sonny Lipenholtz; di-
rects the Senior Adult Choir
every Monday at 12:30 p.m. at
JPM.
The woodcarving group meets
every Monday through Friday
from 9 a.m.-noon.
Weekly Erev Shabbat services
take place on Fridays at 12:45
p.m. Cantor David Gutman will
