Chorale Elects
New Officers

The Zamir Chorale, Detroit's
choral group dedicated to the pre-
sentation of Jewish music, re-
cently elected officers and
directors for the 1997-98 concert
year. Returning as president is
Larry Katkowsky, and as trea-
surer, Henry Bodzin. Newly elect-
ed officers include vice president,
Rachel Francisco; secretary, De-
bra Luria; and music librarian,
Deena Pearlman Weisberg. Ad-
ditional directors are Jerry Begel,
Cheryl Hack, Joseph Katz, Rus-
sell Medalie and Nine Par.kman,
as well as board member Etta Zi-
vian. Mr. Benjamin Cohen re-
mains the music director of the
group, with Rochelle Barr as ac7,
companist.
The Zamir Chorale has
formed an advisory board, con-
sisting of Cantors Stephen
Dubov of Temple Beth El,
Chaim Najman of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek, Harold Orbach
of Temple Israel, Max Shiman-
sky of Congregation Beth Achim,
and Sholom Kalib of Congrega-
tion Beth Israel as well as pro-
fessor of music at Eastern
Michigan University. The mu-
sic director of Temple Beth
Emeth, Annie Zibelman Rose,
also joins the advisory board.

tional Loan Service (JELS) and

ply for an interest-free loan of-
