Mr. Cantor and other Jewish
line crossers and replacement
workers feel their Judaism should
not be "measured and defined by
... devotion to labor unions." It's
not. It's being judged on the ba-
sis of what Jewish law dictates to
its followers. They have failed.

Tiger, Bears,
Oh My!

As a frequent visitor to your area,
I always look forward to reading
The Detroit Jewish News. It was,
therefore, quite disturbing to see
the cartoon on the editorial page
July 18, which equated children
in shul with ferocious animals of
the wild: the tiger, bear and
snake.
Mr. Garfinkel, the cartoonist,
obviously thought he was cute;
but in reality, if we don't pass our
heritage down to our kids, we will
have created a large void.
Since this appeared on your ed-
itorial page, you too appear to be
in agreement with Mr. Garfinkel.
Unless you teach your children to
come to the synagogue, the like-
lihood of their wanting to go when
they are grown is practically nil.
